An Immersive Summer College Program for International Students

EducationUSA Academy completed its final season in summer 2024. No future EducationUSA Academies will be offered.

EducationUSA Academy was an academic enrichment program for international high school students interested in study in the United States. The program, offered both in-person and virtually, ran from 2015-2024 and served approximately 1,500 students from over 100 countries in every world region. Over this time, 18 U.S. higher education institutions hosted the program on their campuses.

The United States continues to welcome international students, as highlighted in the Joint Statement of Principles in Support of International Education.

Many U.S. colleges and universities, including several former EducationUSA Academy host campuses, continue to offer summer and other short-term pre-collegiate programming. We encourage eligible international students to take advantage of these opportunities to experience what U.S. higher education has to offer. Some of the offerings from past host campuses can be found here. Note, these offerings have no direct affiliation with EducationUSA and/or the U.S. Department of State.

EducationUSA Host Institutions

Boston University

Boston University (BU) is a top 50 ranked national university located in America’s education capital and enrolls 34,000 students, including 11,000 international students. Our program’s theme is innovation and entrepreneurship and you will learn about innovative businesses from real working entrepreneurs, company visits, and professors from our Questrom School of Business. You will also meet BU International Admissions to learn how selective universities evaluate international applicants, get help with your application essay, tour BU and local universities like Harvard or MIT and a public university and community college, learn from a panel of current international students, and much more!

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, also known as “The Harvard of the Skies,” is the #1 university in the world for aviation and aerospace. Whether you join us in-person or virtually, you will improve your English, be introduced to a variety of STEM and aviation-related topics and gain an understanding of the admission process for studying at a U.S. university. You will also meet students from around the world and visit other U.S. colleges and universities. We are located just one hour from Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, the Kennedy Space Center, and St. Augustine—the oldest city in the United States. Students joining us in person will get to visit many of these places! Virtual field trips include campus visits, escape rooms, and other fun, team-building activities. St. John’s University

Located in the greatest city in the world—New York—St. John’s University offers a traditional college campus experience while being just a subway ride away from everything the city has to offer. Learn about what it takes to be a successful university student in the United States while improving your English and getting to know other ambitious students from around the world. By the program’s end, you will have experienced diverse cultures and beliefs, gained academic skills and readiness, become familiar with various academic institutions, volunteered to help others, and made new friends—all in a safe, welcoming, and fun environment!

Temple University

Prepare for your future at Temple University, located in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the United States. Live and learn with high school students from the U.S. and around the world on an urban campus and discover American culture as you explore the city’s rich history and world-famous art collections. Spend a day in New York City, at the beach, and at other nearby iconic locations. Choose a workshop from options such as health and medicine, engineering, arts, and world affairs. Build your knowledge and skills on topics like university admissions, leadership, academic presentations, and IELTS preparation. Temple’s Academy combines academics and excursions for three unforgettable, life-changing weeks!

University of Colorado Boulder

The University of Colorado Boulder offers a world-class educational experience in a setting of unparalleled natural beauty. Explore fields such as aerospace, engineering, international business, and sports management at a top-ranked research university with five Nobel Prize winners. Hike the majestic Rocky Mountains and breathe fresh Colorado air. Work closely with local entrepreneurs to develop a product or service pitch that you present to a panel of professionals. Build teamwork, communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with other international students. Recognized as one of the top 13 public universities in the country and 6th for research, your summer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison promises to provide you an unforgettable experience! In a city known for its warmth, safety and diversity, you will engage in our Entrepreneurship in Sustainability & Design track that allows you to engage with American peers, faculty and community members in Engineering, Business and Environmental Protection fields.
